Reliable Water System
Since acquiring our farmland and investing in crops vital to sustaining our feeding program, we’ve encountered increasingly unpredictable weather patterns. Northern Uganda recently faced an intense drought, severely impacting harvests across the Acholi region. To bolster our sustainability efforts amidst climate change, True Vine has adopted a water system developed by SunCulture Uganda LTD. This innovative system guarantees year-round access to groundwater, allowing irrigation for our crops and securing healthy harvests. Our goal is not only to cultivate food for our school’s feeding initiative but to also cultivate high-value crops for sale in markets, generating additional operational funding.
Cattle Investment
As part of our sustainability strategy, True Vine made a strategic decision to invest in cattle, recognizing their value in Northern Uganda’s agricultural landscape. We initiated this endeavor with the acquisition of three cattle. When combined with the nine originally owned by our co-founder, our herd expanded to a total of 12 high-quality cattle. Since then, our investment has grown with the birth of five new calves. As a result, True Vine’s cattle herd now stands at 17, serving as a robust safety net for our school’s sustainability efforts.
Farm Land Acquisition
True Vine has acquired seven acres of land dedicated to farming to support our feeding program and cattle-raising endeavors. With our school expanding steadily, we foresee increasing our utilization of this farmland to alleviate expenses associated with the feeding program. This strategic move aligns with our vision for sustainable growth and resource optimization.
